Like the song, this c.d. is about passage and change...growth and maturity. The material and its interpretation is a snapshot of months of playing together in the intimate confines of a small stage. Songs, arrangements and ideas are tested, the tension between form and freedom, explored. The result is music that is coherent and focused, that still retains the urgency and abandon of a live performance. The addition of horns and vibraphone (on four tracks) extends the colour palette and underscores the growth of this band and its principle writer, Kevin Breit. Never dominating, the additional instruments compliment the dark, bittersweet atmosphere of 'Fifi' and 'Mission Bell Blues' and punctuate the rhythm section in 'Cousin of Martin Scorsese' and 'Frazzed'. 'All Babies Go To War' is the logical extension of The Sisters' first c.d. 'Green Pastors'. It is a record of the expressive evolution of the band ...with a tongue firmly planted in cheek, never far away. Practice safe eating - always use condiments.
