At the turn of the century, mandolin orchestras once thrived in urban and rural centres. The sound of double-chorused strings resonating in concert halls was not a rare occurrence in cities throughout North America. Breit's love of this genre is illustrated in the music of 'MAYBELLE'. Without being overly traditional, Breit respectfully pays homage to the spirit of the mandolin orchestra. Ten songs, all written by Breit invites the listener to hear a family of instruments so meant to be together.
